The 2024 program will start June 6. Check back here for details

Julie Boucher describes the King George Summer Lunch Bunch program and how it began.

This year's program was dedicated to the memory of Janice Shelton

We wrapped up our 2023 program on Thursday, July 27. Over 14 dates during June and July we delivered more than 1,500 lunches, an average of about 108 lunches per delivery day. Thursdays were slightly busier than Tuesdays (112 per day vs. 104). We had a high of 132 on three different days: June 27, July 13, and July 27.

There were 67 people who volunteered in some capacity. That is a testament to your dedication to

serving the King George community!

Thank you for your support this summer. We couldn’t have done it without you and we look forward to seeing you in 2024!

Who We Are:

The Summer Lunch Bunch is a volunteer organization dedicated to meeting the needs of children in King George County, Virginia, during the summer break. The program is administered by a Board of Directors comprised of members from Dahlgren United Methodist Church, Peace Lutheran Church, St. John's Episcopal Church, Trinity United Methodist Church, and Two Rivers Baptist Church.

Goals:

● Fill the nutritional gap for King George area students that exists during summer vacation.

● Enable children to return to school in August in a better position to resume learning.

● Help parents stretch their food dollars.

While we did not need monetary donations for 2023, we will for 2024.  Please consider helping the program financially.  Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 1433 Dahlgren, VA 22448
